Recently I visited The Farm at Byron and stood watching the pigs playing in the mud. It got me thinking about the saying ‘pigs can fly’. It’s a saying people use when they don’t think something is achievable. Firstly I had followed The Farm on Instagram for a while now and never thought I would ever get there. A chance conversation with my brother-in- law whilst holidaying with them confirmed that a visit was actually possible.
back to the reason for this post.
My decision to write about positive things in a really negative world. I feel that we are faced with negative things every day, I won’t watch the news now, as it never gives us anything positive to think about. I don’t mind if you do, but it’s just not for me.
Back to those little piggies and my endeavour to find the positive in lying around in mud and rooting around with noses in the dirt all day.
Those little piggies are very mindful, they focus on one task, they give it all of their attention and don’t even get distracted by us onlookers. So YES pigs really can fly. In their minds at least. And you can too. Here are some tips for you to help perfect that ‘pigs can fly thingy’.
3 DAILY POSITIVES
During you day go hunting for positives, look for the good things that happen; meeting an old friend, a beautiful sunset, someone that gives you a lovely warm smile. At the end of each day write down your 3 positives in a book. Our brains are programmed to look for the negatives, lets rewire our brains to look for the positive instead. It won’t take long and you will be seeing the positive side of life and feeling much better before you know it.
SPREAD SOME POSITIVITY.
Now that you can see the positives in life, go and share them around. Tell someone they have been helpful, write a note to say thank you to someone and why, email someone and tell them what a positive impact they have had on your life. I am going to try and track down a teacher that I had years ago and tell him how amazing he was and thank him for being so inspiring. (Rod Davis)
ACTS OF KINDNESS
Do acts of kindness as often as you can. It makes you and the other person feel good. My sister and I bought a pair of jeans in an opp shop for a young man the other day, it only cost us $1 each it made us feel happy and the young man as well.
All I ask is that you believe that ‘pigs can fly’ .
When you believe in yourself anything is possible!
