Packing for a painting retreat in Ubud is no mean feat.Apart from planning the painting program, I needed to make sure that I packed enough materials for all of the students. As this is my first time to Bali, I could not be sure what materials were available in the art shops there.
I organised a list of materials that the students could pack and bring, this included the essentials such as; sketching diaries, pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, brushes, paper, watercolour paint and generally the things that they could not do without.
Meanwhile my list was a lot bigger. This included; acrylic paints, pastels, oil pastels, water soluble pastels, charcoal, inks, watercolour paper, patterned papers, stamps, palette knives, brushes, copic markers, watercolour paint, handouts, example paintings and drawings. You name it have it. In fact the materials take up two thirds of my case, I do have a few clothes, but they are not that important and luckily with the warm weather I won’t need too many.
