Today we had two new students arrive to join us.They quickly settled in and were warmly welcomed by the group. I started the session with a painting demonstration to show students how I use different mediums in my paintings. I used pastels, acrylic, palette knife, ink, water soluble crayons, oil crayons, paper, gel pens, glitter and copic markers. We played around with the mediums for a while. Then everyone spent time sketching some ideas in their folios. Ubud is a wonderful place for inspiration. There are so many colours, textures and patterns everywhere.
After our morning session we headed to a lovely Balinese local restaurant with gorgeous views over the paddy fields. We did some sketching while we waited for our lunch. I was very impressed with the work that everyone did. I did a demonstration on how to sketch people quickly (before they move) a good skill to master for street sketching.
We followed the scenic route home and saw festivals, wood carvers, stone masons, glass blowers, thatch roof makers, motor bikes, the list goes on. I am enthralled by the local trades that flourish in this area.
Time for a quick massage and then out for dinner to another local restaurant. Well done to my cousin Jill, Made and Wayan who have carefully handpicked the restaurants that we are dining at each day.
It’s been another wonderful day in Paradise. Tomorrow we will be visiting the local fruit and veggie markets at 6am, so it’s lights out for me. Night. X
