I feel so lucky to have been asked to set up my studio in the gorgeous light filled Da Vinci room at The Hamilton and Alexandra College.
It is quite fitting for me as Leonardo Davinci is my all time artistic hero. I have studied his art for years and have been fortunate to see his work whilst travelling in Europe. He was such a talented man in so many ways, but it is his drawing that attracts me most.
- Over the past few months I have been planning the program in consultation with Helen Reiher, Head of Art. I will be working in my usual intuitive style and it has been decided that we will produce a series on birds. We are fortunate to have access to Mr Rob Drumond’s ( a teacher at the school) amazing bird photography, his work is truly inspirational. Check out his work at www.robdrummondphotography.com.au.
During the term student groups will work in the studio with me. They will journey through the process I use to create a painting. I hope to inspire them to to develop their artistic skills in a free and flowing manner. If you would like to follow our journey; please sign up to my blog so that you don’t miss anything.
Some shots from the first week in the studio. Those canvases are so big, luckily I had help from Mum and Chris to get them inside. We are using a variety of mediums, I will talk about them in greater detail as we use them. Our first job is to do some charcoal drawing.
